WIL : Weekly I Learned 2024. 3. 23
FACTS
During the past week, I began studying the basics of SQL. The first few lessons were easy to grasp, but as much as I learned, I found that learning wasn't that easy. The most challenging part was forgetting the codes I had learned as the query statements became more complex. Of course, I am gradually improving as I revisit them, but I'm making an effort to engage in repetitive learning as part of the learning process.
Over the course of the week, I learned the most basic function 'Select' and 'From', progressing to 'Pivot' and 'Window functions'. I still feel there is much to learn, but completing each step gives me the confidence that I might eventually work as a professional level in a company.
FEELINGS
Throughout this week's curriculum, I enjoyed studying alongside others rather than doing it alone. Being able to share and discuss things we didn't know with each other was great. We motivated each other diligently, and seeing others studying hard motivated me to study harder too. It was such a win-win environment, which I found extremely satisfying.
FINDINGS
As I started studying SQL, I found myself wanting to learn deeper into Data Analysis. Working through practice problems made me realize I still have a lot to learn. However, it felt great when I successfully addressed these shortcomings by trying various methods.
In the future, I plan to study other languages as well, not just SQL, to gain a deeper understanding of Data Analysis. I believe that by making a habit of seeking and solving what I don't know, It will grow me up to the next level.
Future
I've learned the basics of SQL, but I still think Excel is more convenient for now. Even for Pivot tables, Excel seems more user-friendly. However, in handling extensive data sets where Excel's computational capabilities fall short, I believe SQL will be useful for data manipulation. I aim to learn SQL and Python to apply them in my field of Finance & Accounting in the future.
